various effecMost of you probably noticed the recent introduction of an auction system for expired CZ domains. In the past, it could happen that only a few applicants (due to technical and administrative limitations) gained access to hundreds (or even thousands) of forfeited domains. The administrator of the domain, CZ.NIC, therefore launched it in an effort to allow a larger number of interested parties to apply for these domains.
Another, related, reason was the elimination of middlemen. This means the removal of third-party services that offered so-called domain capture. Due to the previously mentioned complications and limited access to registrations of expired domains, some registrars offered interested parties to register the expired domain for them. For which, of course, they took a commission. This will now be won by CZ.NIC, as only end customers can now participate in the auction.
Who can participate in the auction?
As already mentioned in the introduction, CZ.NIC wants to enable access to expired domains to more interested parties. Anyone from the Czech Republic or the EU with a sufficiently verified electronic identity can therefore access the auctions.
A natural person (CR) must have a registered MojeID account at least at the “significant” level.
A legal entity (CR) must have a validated MojeID account.
Natural persons from abroad (EU) must have an electronic identity at the “significant” level according to the eIDAS regulation.
How does the auction work?
First of all, it is important to mention that the domain itself is not auctioned. Only the priority right to register it is being auctioned. The domain must then be registered to the identifier of the contact who won the auction of priority rights.
When does the domain go to auction?
To be placed in the auction, the domain must first go through several stages. First of all, it must expire . Subsequently, the domain works normally for another 30 days . On the 31st day, CZ.NIC turns it off and the domain is not available for re-registration for the next 30 days. During this protection period of 60 days (30+30), the original owner still has the option to extend the domain.
How does the auction work?
Subsequently, there is a change (compared to the previous way of releasing domains). If the owner does not renew the domain, the domain is published in the auction list for a period of 15 days. After these 15 days, it is put uae phone number data up for auction. Domains are released for the auction at 12:00. The standard auction duration is 9 hours. The auction may be extended if there is a bid in the last minutes of the auction. The auction can be extended up to 9:00 a.m. the following day. If none of the bidders bids, the domain is released for normal registration after the end of the auction.

The starting price of the priority right is what kind of people am I looking for on my team? set at CZK 100 for each domain. The bidding itself then works automatically. So the system bids itself. Always only the lowest necessary amount and only up to the total “maximum by lists amount” you set. The minimum bid amount is defined in advance and is proportional.
