Photos in Reviews

Photos play an important role in my reviews. I dealt extensively with the topic of photos in the previous article of this blog case study .

I like taking great detailed photos with my SLR camera and incorporating them into my reviews. In my opinion, the close-ups of game pieces, game boards, cards and so on convey the mood very well and that is exactly what matters.

But apart from that, photos in reviews also have a great practical use. Google likes it when there is not only text, but also photos. These rank in Google image search and they are also very important for the social web. On Facebook and Twitter, posts with photos often do much better than those without. And you can also use platforms like Pinterest or Instagram if you have your own photos.

All in all, photos increase the quality of my reviews and are also a good marketing tool to make the blog even more successful.

special case of first impression

My “first impression” articles are a special case. I knew from the beginning that it would often take some time before I had played new board games germany cell phone number list more often. In order not to have to wait forever until I am ready to write a review, I sometimes publish a first impression fairly quickly.

I often do this after a game night or even if I’ve only been able to play it solo. I just enjoy introducing a fairly new game without giving it a final rating.

How my reviews are created

In my reviews, I don’t just write about the board games; there is also a rating. However, it is difficult to put a board game into numbers. Basically, it only matters if someone has fun with it. However, there are different reasons for this.

I use the WP Product Review plugin in my blog, which allows you to rate up to 5 individual criteria (0 to 10), the average of which then forms the overall rating.

Here is an example from my blog:

So I only used criteria that generally have a positive or negative impact and that most people would agree with. For example, I chose the game idea, the quality and the accessibility as evaluation criteria. I also used subjective criteria such as fun and price/performance. However, these 5 evaluation criteria are all subjective in some way, sometimes more and sometimes less.

In order to make special features or disadvantages clear to the reader, this plugin also offers the option of specifying pros and cons. For example, for a how to start your own business: business plan game with multiple players, I would write that it is not suitable for family players and beginners. But that does not have a negative effect on the score.

So overall it wasn’t that easy and my evaluations are certainly not set in stone. Let’s see if anything changes in the future.

ranking and traffic development

Summer is now over, but there has been some nice weather in the last few weeks. So it’s hard to judge whether we were already in autumn mode or not.

In any case, there was still a positive development in the cameroon business directory rankings. For example, with “board game comparison” I made it to position 5 in Google. With “connoisseur games” I reached position 4. Of course, there are more and more long-tail rankings, which in total also bring in many new visitors.

I was also very pleased that there is continued positive development in the main keywords.
