The same time, it takes a certain level of technical competence to understand whether you should go with platform as a service or develop in-house. If you don’t have strong technical competence, how do you make these decisions? Because there are a million other decisions that need to lead to the final decision.

If you don’t have that technical expertise, how do you get that information? GOVLOOP: For people who are looking to develop their technical skills, what organizations do you recommend? NACAPUY: I think people should follow specific technical people to get those technical skills.

Technology you’re talking about. I get a lot of my information from there. I don’t really talk to sales people, I don’t really talk to sales instagram data engineers, I’m really following developers, following technical people within the company and the blogs that they post. The same is true in the IT world, where we capturing interest and providing a glimpse spend hours trying to solve problems instead of picking up the phone and calling someone. The third thing Jiu-Jitsu teaches us—one of the cardinal rules of Jiu-Jitsu—is to never hurt your sparring partner. Once you hurt your opponent, no one wants to fight you. In the IT world, it’s the same thing.

We have to learn not to hurt each other, and we have to cooperate. I look for people who have that mentality, and Jiu-Jitsu taught me to look for those rich data things. The recent U.S. government shutdown reminded me of a time when the Canadian government faced a similar (albeit very different) decision-making moment.
